Top 5 Restaurants Within Walking Distance
This week highlights our top 5 favorite restaurants within walking distance of the Calypso Resort, in Panama City Beach, FL!
#5 – Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville
If you’re looking for a loud, fun atmosphere for a vacation night out, look no further than Margaritaville. With live music and staff members on stilts making balloon animals, the entertainment will never cease. That’s why we’ve named Margaritaville as our #5! The menu has a broad selection and the portions are large, so plan for some leftovers unless you have a big appetite! The nachos appetizer is huge so plan to share with the whole table when you order. Located on the corner of Pier Park Drive and Front Beach Road, you are only one block away from great entertainment for the whole family.
#4 – Fatty’s Sandwich Shop
While the name might be slightly off-putting, the sandwiches and food at Fatty’s are out of this world and extremely popular. With a music-inspired decor theme and outstanding food, Fatty’s draws in the crowd every day. My personal favorite is the Chicken Caesar Wrap, but their pizzas and subs are all delicious. Located right across the stress on Front Beach Road, if you want to dine in, you can use the crossover to the main garage in order to access the restaurant without even crossing the road. You’ll barely even have to leave the building. Or better yet – Fatty’s has free delivery to the Calypso! You can order it and have it delivered right to the Tiki Bar! This is a great plan for lunch on the beach too!
#3 – Red Robin Burgers
While these are found and coveted all over the country, I felt it was worthy of being included in our list as #3. They have so many different gourmet burgers here, that you’re sure to find a favorite. And their bottomless fries are exactly that – unlimited refills. My personal favorites are the bacon cheeseburger and the sweet potato fries. If you are looking for a gluten-free restaurant, this is your go-to place. Not only do they have a gluten-free menu, but they have separate fryers for potatoes and for fish that are dedicated to keeping those items gluten-free. You can also order a gluten-free bun for your sandwich, or have it lettuce wrapped instead! Located in Pier Park, it’s a convenient stop for any meal!
#2 – Hook’d Bar and Grill
When the weather is nice and the sun is setting, Hook’d is the place to go. It looks right over the pier and the sandy beaches. Not only are the food and view both great, but the service is good too. My favorite is the fish tacos – delicious every time. Recently we were there with a group of 10 people. After the sun went down and the wind picked up, it was far too cold to sit outside (early March). The staff was extremely kind and accommodating, rearranging and organizing the entire inside of the small bar for us to be seated. It was extra work for them, but they did it with grace and class as well as kindness. Located on the corner Front Beach Road and Pier Park Drive, across from Back Porch and Margaritaville, you won’t even need to cross the street to get there.
#1 – The Back Porch
Seafood is an absolute must when visiting Panama City Beach, and Back Porch is definitely the place to do it. With indoor or outdoor seating, the environment will always be perfect for whatever it is you’re looking for. Personally, I recommend the fresh oysters on the half shell and the shrimp and corn chowder. And if you’ve never had fried pickles, this is the place to try them! Portions are large here, so you’ll be able to bring it home and enjoy a late night snack or lunch the next day. Located on the corner of Pier Park Drive and Front Beach Road, it’s only a block away!
